Fundraiser
As our community grows, businesses expand, and changes occur, we, at the Marine Corps League, have to make changes. Due to this, our building, which we have rented since 1991, is being torn down. We have purchased land and need to build a new home for our members and the other military organizations that use our facility.
The Lynchburg Marine Corps League is proud of its accomplishments and honored to serve both, veterans and non-veterans, in our community of Lynchburg and the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell, and Pittsylvania. Among the many accomplishments are:
- Provide health & comfort items, such as, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shaving gear, lotion, pajamas, etc. to patients in need at the Salem VA hospital.
- Every Christmas we do a "Hero Tree" at the MCL to purchase necessary gifts for patients at the Salem VA hospital.
- Provide support & care packages for local Marines and National Guard members while serving in Iraq & Afghanistan.
- Raised over $100,000 for the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford.
- Provide annual college scholarships to area high school seniors.
- Financially sponsor & train the Young Marines for boys and girls age 8 to 18. Through mentoring & training they learn leadership skills, teamwork, patriotism, honor, courage, & committment. They have won many local and regional awards.
- We, not only, provide our building for the Young Marines & their training, but also to the Disabled American Veterans, The Vietnam Veterans Association, The 82nd Airborne Association, The Military Order of the Purple Heart, and the Military Order of the Devil Dogs for their monthly meetings and functions.
- Toys for Tots
Now, we ask for your help, as we, not only, raise funds to build a new facility, but to be able to continue to provide help and money to the individuals and causes we have helped in the past and will continue to help, in the future. The Marine Corps motto is Semper Fidelis, always faithful. We pride ourselves, not only in duty, honor, and country, but in being “always faithful” to our community. Now, with help from you, our “always faithful” community, we can continue in our traditions of the MCL and its dedication to others.
Your monetary donation will be greatly appreciated. |
